Claude R. Williams, 72, a charter member of the Crawfordsville aerie of the Eagles lodge, died Thursday morning at 5:30 o'clock at his home, 1111 north 9th street, Lafayette. He had been ill for some time. Mr. Williams was born Oct. 3, 1878, at Ladoga. He came to Crawfordsville when young and lived here until about 25 years ago when he moved to Lafayette.  While a resident of this city, Mr. Williams was a widely known musician and was a member of bands and orchestras both here and in Lafayette. He w as an interior decorator by trade.  He was married June 6, 1925, at Indianapolis, to Opal F. Delaney, who survives. Others survivors include a son, by a former marriage, Hubert B. Williams, of San Francisco, and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Harp, of Indianapolis.  Mr. Williams was a member of the Congress Street Methodist church at Lafayette. He also belonged to the Musicians union. Funeral services will be held at the Hippensteel Funeral home in Lafayette Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with Rev. Earl Heimburger in charge. Burial will be about 2:45 p. m. at the Oak Hill cemetery here.

Claude R. Williams, 72, a painting and decorating contractor, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday at his residence, 1111 North Ninth street.  He had been ill only a short time.  Born near Ladoga, he lived at Crawfordsville until he came to Lafayette 25 years ago.  He was married June 6, 1925 at Indianapolis to Opal F. Delaney.  His memberships were in Congress Street Methodist Church, Painters and Decorators Union Local 80, the Lafayette Federation of Musicians and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Crawfordsville.  He played with a local band for a number of years. Survivors include the widow, a son by a former marriage, Hubert B. Williams, San Francisco and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Harp, Indianapolis.

Funeral notices:  Williams, Claude R – Friends may call at Hippensteel Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday.  Funeral services there at 1:300 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Earl Heimburger officiating. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. – kbz
